Abdulrahman Musa

Abdulrahman's father retired from the civil service after thirty years. His mother teaches mathematics at a government secondary school. They had saved carefully for his university education. It was not enough for a private university, and the federal university admission process had been running for eight months without resolution.

He found Decagon through a Twitter thread. Someone had listed ten scholarship programmes for Nigerian students. Decagon was number four on the list. He clicked the link, read the eligibility criteria, and applied that evening.

At Landmark University, he enrolled in Computer Science. By the end of his first semester, he had taken on his first freelance web development client — a small business in Kaduna that needed a website. By the end of his first year, he had three paying clients.

He is now in his second year. He is saving the freelance income. He has not told his parents yet.
